What Sourcecut is
Sourcecut is a desktop app for macOS that makes videos on your own computer: it researches a topic, writes a script, records the voice, scores the music and renders the video locally. This policy covers the app and this website.
What it can do with your Google account
Connecting YouTube is optional. When you connect, you sign in with Google in your own browser and approve two permissions:
- Manage your YouTube videos (
youtube.upload): to upload videos you made in Sourcecut to your channel. - See, edit and delete your YouTube videos, comments and captions (
youtube.force-ssl): used only to add captions to a video Sourcecut uploaded, set its thumbnail, add it to a playlist, update its title, description and privacy when you ask, read your channel's name and counts to show which channel is connected, and read your playlists' names to find the one you picked.
Sourcecut does not change or delete anything else on your channel, and does nothing on YouTube without an action you start or a schedule you set.
Where that data goes
The sign-in is stored in your Mac's Keychain. Videos, captions and their details go straight from your Mac to YouTube. Sourcecut has no servers: we never receive your Google data, your videos or your sign-in, and none of it is sold, shared, used for advertising or used to train AI models.
Sourcecut's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Sourcecut uses YouTube API Services. Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Removing access
You can disconnect Sourcecut at any time from your Google Account's third-party connections page. Deleting the Sourcecut items from your Mac's Keychain removes the stored sign-in. Your projects are ordinary folders on your Mac; deleting them deletes everything Sourcecut made.
Other services you can choose
By default the voice, word timing and music run on your Mac. If you choose a cloud voice (ElevenLabs or OpenAI), the text of each line is sent to that company to be spoken, under its own terms and privacy policy. If you connect a comment-to-DM service, the keyword and message you write are sent to it. Keys for these services are kept in your Mac's Keychain and are never written to files or sent to us.
This website
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising. Its typeface is loaded from Fontshare, which, like any web server, receives your IP address when your browser asks for the font. The early-access buttons take you to the Sourcecut waitlist on asifsultan.me, which is covered by that site's own policy.
Children
Sourcecut is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. Questions: reach us through the Sourcecut page.
